The Statute of Limitations in Sex Abuse Cases:

• If you were over 18 when the abuse occurred you have 2 years to file a claim.
• If you were under 18, you have until age 24 to file a claim.

The Legislature has created this special statute of limitations because of the importance of encouraging victims to report sexual abuse.
